Orchid Asian Stir Fry Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I built my own stir fry with chicken, the normal veggies listed on the menu, and the thai red curry sauce. Overall, it was very tasty. I deducted half a star for the small portion of chicken in the dish. There definitely could have been more. I deducted another half star for the sauce tasting a bit flat. The coconut was there, the spice was there, but the usual lemongrass and lime flavors were sorely missed. Overall, I think it's a good value and it's quick. Don't let the deduction of a star deter you!

Not bad at all if you are looking for some asian stir fry. The service was quick and food was made to order. I would def come back even on a short lunch.

Large portions even for lunch. More family style servings. Very small seating area so you may have to wait. Ordered the pad tai, shrimp fried rice and spicy chicken. All of it was cooked after ordering and served pipping hot. Very affordable. I am thoroughly impressed and will be bringing out of town family here.

Real good Asian fast food at low price. Had Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian beef, Singapore noodles, Cashew chicken and Combo fried rice. All were good. Place was clean and service was good. Highly recommend this place if you are looking for simple asian meal.

Great Food for a Great Price! Owner is very nice. The food comes out quickly and is delicious like P.F Changs but much cheaper!

The service here was not very fast or friendly. I felt like I was annoying the guy when I ordered. I ordered a bubble tea, which was pretty tasteless and disappointing. I also ordered a Tom Yum Soup which seemed overpriced for the small portion I got. The soup was good, but nothing special. I doubt I will be back with so many better options in the area.

Stopped in for my favorite bubble tea. Green Tea and mango. I really appreciate the fact that they do not add sugar, it makes the drink so much healthier.

The workers here are actually quite pleasant, which prompts me to ask why one of the reviewers below said they were aloof? I mean he/she must have never been to some of the other Asian places. Honestly. the Asian culture is just different, so just don't take things too personally. Ordered off the Thai menu, for pad see ew. Not bad but not superb, good enough that I will be back. This place has some legit prices, another reason why I will be back. $6.25 for vegetarian stir fry noodles, $5.75 for vegetarian fry rice, $6.75 for Singapore noodle, $7.25 for pad thai and pad see ew. Very clean and clean cut interior. A pleasant place, not wow out of this world amazing but hey, if you are looking for a cheap lunch or quick take out, that does not clog your arteries completely like a lot of Asian takeouts, this is it.

AWESOME place! I have tried alot of their food, and I have not had a bad dish yet. They make the best Pad See Ew!!!

Tucked around the corner, this little chinese food restaurant serves up some really fresh tasting food. It seems that Chinese American food is similar and somewhat cheap. The freshness and prices here are great. I have only been here once, but I will certainly come back!

Service is cordial at best but the food is delicious. The pad see ew was great. We also tried the pad Thai, fried rice and spicy basil.

If you are looking for a quick and cheap meal this is the place to go! The staff's personality could use some work though. I felt they were curt with all of their responses and that is why I gave it -1 stat. Overall though the quality of the food was great and the facility seemed to be well kept and clean. I ordered the Kung pao with fried rice and definitely recommend it. Next time I'm gonna try the Singaporean noodles.

This little gem tucked around the corner of the strip is closer to IL 60 than my google directions would lead me to believe but I found it. I was looking for a light alternative to my usual lunch choices and this really works out. My first time in, I tried the kung pao chicken and it was quite yummy. The owner I believe runs the register, mans one of the woks and plates and serves too. A busy fellow for sure. The broccoli chicken and shrimp egg foo young I've had other times, always made to order, lightly seasoned and won't put you in a grease or carb coma. Very nice.

I believe I was Orchid Asian's first customer and am one of their most loyal customers. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE their food. I have tried lots of items from the menu but I especially love their "create your own" stir fry. I love that the food is excellent quality ingredients, full of flavor, and fresh. Hands down my absolute favorite place to have asian cuisine.

Mixed review the restaurant was nothing like we expected. My daughter wanted stir fry so I found positive reviews however this was not a sit down restaurant you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. Little shocked and disappointed. But the food was very good. As long as you know it is not a true sit down restaurant you will get a very good meal for a very low price

I frequently went to Orchid as they are one of the few places in the area that has good bubble tea, so imagine my disappointment when I went picked up dinner and ended up not even finishing it because of how bad it was. First of all, the man behind the counter (not sure his name but he's been there literally every time I've gone) is RUDE. He just kind of shoves food at you and then ignores you. No customer service, no friendliness. The cooks in the back are nice, but you only see them if they happen to be walking in or out of the store. Second of all, I ordered orange chicken - thinking that it would impossible to mess up such a basic staple... sadly, I was very wrong. The portion sizes were outrageously disproportionate - maybe ten pieces of chicken that was about half the size of my pinky and then a solid palmful of plain white rice. To be completely honest, it tasted NOT THE SAME, BUT WORSE than the orange chicken you can get at the freezer section of Target and pop in the microwave. Between the orange chicken, a veggie spring roll that had some kind of bitter cabbage in it that I literally had to pull out and throw in the garbage because it was so hard for me to chew, and the bubble tea, I spent $11. It wasn't worth a penny. DON'T GO HERE FOR FOOD. It was such a bitter disappointment. ALSO, IT SMELLS. They have bad ventilation, so both the entire restaurant and your clothes when you leave smell like fried food. It's gross.

Ordered take out and was very disappointed, based on other reviews. I phoned my order in, and they said it would be ready in 10 minutes. When I arrived, (this is the one bright spot) my food was already packaged and ready to go. Form there is was downhill. I ordered a side of seasoned broccoli, which is basically steamed broccoli in brown sauce. They packed it in a 'traditional' white cardboard Chinese take out container, which is not usually a problem. Except when they packed my food, they turned the container on it's side, so it leaked sauce all over the inside of the bag. But the time I got back to my desk, the bag was a soggy messy, and sauce was beginning to leak all over my desk. Second, I took a bite of my orange chicken and it was WAAAAYYYY to salty, and didn't taste of orange at all. The broccoli was also too salty. The fried rice was okay, but nothing to write home about. It was studded with frozen mixed veg - you know, the kind you get from the frozen aisle at the grocery store. For other reviews, it looks like their other menu options are better, but this meal was so salty I don't think I'll be coming back.

ehh. not so much. My sis said the food comes quick. So i had to try this spot. It was odd that no one was there when i got there at 11:30am on a weekday. My co-worker and i went to the register and waited for someone to come to the register. After two minutes, the gentlemen came up ...and (with out eye contact or a smile) went straight to pick up the ringing phone. Um.. okay. The man came to the register and 'welcome' and 'how can i help you' with the most blank poker face. Not even a glint of warm customer service. My co worker and I were surprised that an empty spot would not make a better effort. Good news. The food did come quick and was reasonable priced. I would say it is decent, at least better than any Asian recipe that i've attempted at home. At noon, a rush came in the door. I sadly felt better that guy behind the counter was sharing his unethusiastic face with the others coming in the door. Sadly,i need a sweet smile for me to visit a place again. Thankfully, Vernon Hills has a lot of spots where i can get better food with much better service.

The food here is great and you'll love the price too. Best place for office crowd at lunch time. I personally love the Singapore style noodles and the Asian stir fry with Thai curry. They have 2 portion options. One is Lunch and the other is Dinner. The dinner portions are a little more than the lunch ones and are priced accordingly. I've been here once for dinner and I had the option of ordering lunch portion. I am a regular customer here and have been happy every time. People who love to spice up their food can ask for some hot sauce on the side.

Delicious, fast and affordable What does these adjectives describe? It's Orchid Asian Stir Fry. You can choose sauce, ingredients, noodle/rice. You can choose one from the menu. Whichever you choose, it will satisfy both your appetite and your wallet. Each entry is served fresh just out of the kitchen. Can't believe it's a fast food based on the quality of food. Recently added chow fun noodle with Teriyaki sauce is my newly-found favorite. Bored with the same all food for your lunch and dinner? Check out this jewel in Vernon Hills

Update 4/29/08 I've been back a few times since I wrote the review just some weeks ago and now I am back to remove stars. If the customer service was tweaked a bit more. If the tofu was prepared properly. If the rice could taste fresh? If they added more sauce to saucy dishes, no requests, the menu says they can handle special preparations. I asked for my food to be extra spicey & they gave me hot sauce and told me to pour it over the top(More than once, they've told me that). If , if, if, too many if's and time to find a new spot. Ah, but the egg rolls were fresh. Why is it, everywhere else in Chicago and burbs, they offer an appetizer with a lunch special. Except Vernon Hills. This isn't the only Chinese restaurant doing this. At a fast food Chinese location, if you have to spend up to $15 for one person, the quality has to be excellent. Which it is not. -------------------------------------- Its a four star version of Chinese fast food. The decor is upscale for a strip mall dining option. Meal costs in my opinion are much too high. An entree with an "side option" can run about $6-7 dollars. Rice is considered a side option. Noodles are extra and not worth the extra charge to have with you meal. Side items are pricey also, got a 2pc order of egg rolls for close to $3 dollars with tax. For two people, two lunch specials and an order of the egg rolls, my tab was near $15. Egg rolls were good, tasted like they are home made and fried at the moment. Mongolian beef is the saucy watery kind, tasty, but too much sauce. The clerk suggested I try it over noodles, which just sucked! That's another thing.. there are many options on the menu. Its overwhelming even when standing and thinking of what to get. I wish the counter guys offered some assistance in choosing the best option. They're helpful in the sense of getting your food promptly and ensuring the order. But, not for helping ME pick out the best cost effective option. Since its nearby the workplace, I may go back again. If you map the location on the net, just know that, on-line maps indicate this place further South on Milwaukee Ave, which it isn't. Its address is considered as Milwaukee, because of the strip mall whereas the actual location is on Town Line road. P.S. If you do carry out and would like additional sauces, ask quickly! They staple your brown bad shut. They don't like to give out more than two of any sauce packets or trade for what you want. Snotty!

Great place. Went there when they first opened and they were pretty good. We have been going back of late and they are even better. I get the stir fry with the Thai curry sauce. Portions are good and price is right. A definate winner and it has earned a spot in our lunch rotation. Only draw back is if you sit up front in the winter it gets mighty drafty/cold.

Food was amazing I got the Pad Thai and it is the best I've had in all of the US! I would recommend it to all my friends! My friend got the Cashew Chicken and loved it too! I would give it 6/5. Wish it was closer to my house!

I absolutely LOVE orchid. I am a huge fan of stir fry, and there is nothing better than a place that is more than willing to listen to what you want and don't want in your food (less oil, any restrictions really) I've been there enough (every couple weeks) that the people working for the restaurant recognize me and my order (which I do a make your own stir fry - 3 different veggies, a meat, and rice). They are always super nice to me and my family or friends. My mom is a big fan of their sesame chicken, but truthfully anything we have had has been amazing and fresh to order. My only gripe is that it can sometimes be a little breezy, so you may not want to take off your coat if its cold outside and the door keeps opening.

I've lived in this area for 11 years and never tried this place. It's in the out-of-the-way part of a less-traveled strip mall, so I never think of it. However, I changed jobs and it's close to my current job, so we tried it out as a meeting spot for a friends lunch. WOW! Really amazing! The best part is that they have both thai and Chinese so you don't have to fight about what type of cuisine. The curry is the best I've had since college, when my roommate used to bring back curry from India. The stir fries are excellent and you can choose your vegetables (although be forewarned that, when they say onion, they *mean* onion). It's an order-at-the-counter deal, but then they bring the food to your table. The place is cute and rarely so busy that we can't get a table right away. Give it a shot if you like really fresh, authentic Chinese/Thai.

Tasty & inexpensive food. We came here for lunch and everyone in our group was satisfied. Lots of choices for non meat eaters as well.

We've been to Orchid 4 times now, and really, there's no other place I'd rather go for asian food. It's not just Chinese, it has a really nice variety of cuisines, and having traveled Korea, Japan and Thailand, I can tell you this is pretty authentic food. The curries were delicate, not bitter, and everything we've had was great. Prices are decent. Very yummy!

I used to live in Lincoln Park and one of our staples was oodles of noodles. We liked it b/c it was affordable and tasty. It made for great carry out, which is something that we do at least twice a week, even though we have a family and are suburbanites now. This place fits the bill as our new oodles of noodles. The food is really good for the price. We always order the same thing, so I can't comment on the whole menu, but what we've had is great. Start with the crab rangoon. It's actually the best I've ever had. We get pan fried noodles with barbecue pork and szechwan or kung pao sauce; excellent. We also get Singapore noodles; also excellent. We've had the orange chicken a few times which is also very good. This place is kind of like a high quality Panda Express. When you don't have time to cook and want asian food, check it out.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
